Wednesday’s game with the Chicago White Sox ended in a 5-3 loss for the Baltimore Orioles. The game was not as close as the final score may appear; the Birds trailed 5-1 going into the bottom of the ninth. The boys in orange gave the fans a bit of one-out excitement but in the end, Chicago closer Liam Hendricks was too much to handle.

The ninth inning excitement came off the bat of Austin Hays. The left fielder hit a two-run homerun and provided the feel of another comeback in the making. Hays finished the night 1 for 4 with a run scored and 2 RBI and two batters later the game was finished.

Adley Rutschman went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored.

Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4 with a double.

Righthander Spenser Watkins (4-4) did all he could to keep the Orioles in the game by providing the team a quality start (6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K). He did hit a batter and threw a wild pitch in taking the loss.

Once Watkins departed the game, four relievers were needed to finish the game with Keegan Akin being the most taken of advantage of. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in one-third of an inning.
