Friday’s game at OPACY began with a 1:49 rain delay and ended with the Orioles in the win column. In between those points of the 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates was a starting pitcher’s duel.

Orioles starter Dean Kremer (4-3) tossed 6.1 scoreless innings. Kremer threw 83 (61 strikes) pitches while facing 22 Pittsburgh batters. The right-hander scattered 4 hits and struck out 2 in earning the win and getting the best of his Pirates counterpart Mitch Keller (6.0 IP, 1 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 1 K). Kremer also retired 14 straight batters from the end of the second inning through the first out of the seventh.

The Orioles left 11 runners on base in the game; the lone exception came in the sixth inning when Ramon Urias (1 for 3, 1 RBI) singled in Anthony Santander (1 for 4, 1 2B, 1 Run Scored) from second base.

Pittsburgh threatened to score only twice, once with runners at first and third with one out in the second and then with a runner at third with two outs in the seventh.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a stolen base.

Adley Rutschman went 0 for 2 with 2 walks and a stolen base.

Terrin Vavra went 3 for 4.

Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K) earned his 4th save.
