Game 1 saw the Orioles trailing 4-2 after 7.5 innings until Terrin Vavra’s (2 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 3 RBI) first MLB homerun was a three-run blast to right field put the Orioles up 5-4, making a winner of DL Hall (1-1). Hall allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 pitching in the 8th inning. Bryan Baker (1.0 IP, 2 K) earned his first save of 2022.
Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a walk.
Ryan Mountcastle went 3 for 4.
Michael Baumann started and allowed 4 runs on 9 hits (1 homerun allowed) with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
The Orioles lost the nightcap 5-1. The lone score coming in the sixth inning when a Kyle Stowers (1 for 4, 1 RBI) double allowed Jesus Aguilar (2 for 4, 1 Run) to score.
Robinson Chirinos went 1-3. The Orioles were limited to just those four hits.
Spenser Watkins started and allowed 1 run on 2 hits, walked 1 and struck out 3 over 3.1 innings.
