The Baltimore Orioles lost 10-1 to the Saint Louis Cardinals Wednesday night when they ran into a buzzsaw named Miles Mikolas. Mikolas held the Baltimore bats in check and by the time the team plated a run in the 5th inning, the Cardinals had posted 7 runs.

This is the Orioles offense in one sentence. Jorge Mateo (1 for 4, 1 run scored) singled with one out and Robinson Chirinos (1 for 3, 1 2B, 1 RBI) hit a double to bring him home.

Cedric Mullins (1 for 3, 1 BB), Trey Mancini (1 for 4) and Anthony Santander (1 for 3) each managed a hit in the game.

Spenser Watkins (0-1) did not have his best stuff on this night, which exacerbated the his team’s lack of offense. He allowed 7 runs on 8 hits, including a Juan Yepez homerun, walked 2 and struck out 3 over 3.2 innings. Watkins wa tagged with the loss.

On a positive note, Paul Fry struck out 1 in 1.1 innings of relief.
