Saturday’s Orioles game started with pomp and circumstance and good feelings as shortstop JJ Hardy, outfielder Mike Devereaux, radio broadcaster Joe Angel and 105.7 star Mo Gaba were inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame. The good feelings ended with Cedric Mullins (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) third inning homerun as the Orioles lost 12-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Mullins gave the O’s a 3-2 lead with that homerun and that was the last run the team would score. Starting pitcher Spenser Watkins did all he could to keep the game close. The right-hander allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, 2 of which were homeruns, struck out 4 and threw a wild pitch over 6.0 innings. He was tagged with the loss.

A trio of relievers allowed 7 runs on 6 hits. Dusten Knight allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 4 over 1.1 innings. Cesar Valdez allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, 2 of which were homeruns, over 0.2 inning. Isaac Mattson finished the game by allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

On the offensive side, Jorge Mateo went 1 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and a stolen base while Austin Hays went 2 for 4.

Richie Martin went 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored.
