The Baltimore Orioles managed just four hits in Wednesday’s 6-0 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Three of those four hits were for extra-bases, unfortunately the Orioles could not cash in those runners in scoring position. Baltimore was 0-8 with runners in scoring position.
Cedric Mullins (1 for 4), Austin Hays (1 for 4) and Kelvin Gutierrez (1 for 3) each hit doubles with Pedro Severino (1 for 4) hitting a single to round out the Birds hit total.
Starter Zac Lowther allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits while striking out 4 over 5.0 innings in taking the loss. JD Martinez did the most damage to Lowther’s efforts, hitting a solo homerun in the second inning..
Eric Hanhold (1.0 IP, 1 UER, 1 H, 2 K), Conner Wade (1.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K) and Spenser Watkins (1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 K) allowed Boston to score.
Brooks Kriske pitched a clean inning of relief, striking out 1.
