Sunday’s Spring Training game was a 2-0 win for the Baltimore Orioles over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton, FL. Cole Irvin (2.0 IP, 3 K) made the start and retired the side in both the first and second innings. Ryan Long (2.0 IP, 2 K) bookended Irvin’s start with tw three-up and three-down innings of his own in the eighth and ninth.

Five Orioles pitchers covered innings three through seven with Keegan Akin (1.0 IP) and Bryan Baker (1.0 IP, 1 K) retiring the side in the third and fourth innings respectively. Akin was the most efficient, need ing just four pitches to navigate his outing.

The Pirates were held hitless until the fifth inning when Tucker Davidson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB) allowed a two-out single. Winning pitcher Luis Gonzalez (1-0) allowed a leadoff double in the sixth while striking out one and Wandisson Charles (1.0 IP, , 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) gave up Pittsburgh’s final hit, a single in the seventh.

The Orioles opened the scoring in the seventh with a Coby Mayo (0 for 1, 1 R, 1 BB) walk, a Tyler Nevin (2 for 2, 1 R) single and an Enrique Bradfield, Jr (1 for 2, 1 SB) infield single that allowed Mayo to score on a throwing error ny Pirates shortstop Sergio Alcantara; Bradfield’s speed hurried the throw. Nevin singled up the middle in the ninth inning and hustled into second on a throwing error by Pirates centerfielder Gilberto Celestino and ultimately scored on a Maverick Handley (1 for 2, 1 RBI) RBI single. Both Baltimore runs were unearned.

Colton Cowser went 0 for 1 with 2 walks and a stolen base.

Jorge Mateo went 1 for 3 with a double.

Errol Robinson went 0 for 0 with a walk and a stolen base.
