One streak continued and one ended in the Baltimore Orioles 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees on Thursday. The team’s recent losing streak reached four games while Anthony Santander’s on-base streak ended.

The defense committed five errors in the game which resulted in six unearned runs for the Yankees. The main culprits were Jorge Mateo (1 for 4, 1 BB) and Kelvin Gutierrez (2 for 5, 1 RBI) who each committed two errors. The quintet of errors overshadowed some solid performances on offense and led to the loss.

Austin Hays had the first four hit game of his career, going 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Rougned Odor went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Trey Mancini went 2 for 5 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. The six combined doubles were not enough to negate the effect of the errors.

Anthony Santander went 0 for 5, striking out once.

Starter and losing pitcher Bruce Zimmermann (1-1) allowed 4 unearned runs and 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5 over 4.1 innings pitched.

Left-hander Paul Fry fueled the flames by allowing 4 runs, 3 earned, on 1 hit with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in 1.1 innings of relief. The hit he allowed was Aaron Judge’s fifth homerun of the season.
