Wednesday night’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees started horribly as the Yankees plated 3 runs. A two run sixth inning brought the Orioles within one run, but in the end the Yankees won 3-2.

Orioles starter Jordan Lyles disposed of the first two Yankees batters and then gave up two consecutive singles and an RBI double. With runners on second and third and two outs Lyles throws a wild pitch and Anthony Bemboom compounds that with a throwing error, allowing two more runs to score.

Lyles settled down after that to finish with a line of 3 runs allowed, 2 which were earned, on 5 hits with 8 strikeouts over 7.0 innings. A quality start that the offense couldn’t support.

Austin Hays went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a run scored and 1 RBI while Trey Mancini went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI. Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 and scored the Orioles other run.

The remaining Baltimore hits came from Rougned Odor (1 for 4) and Tyler Nevin (1 for 3).
