Friday night’s game with the Boston Red Sox featured post-game fireworks and the fans were treated to in-game fireworks as well. The Orioles beat the Red Sox 15 to 10 and there were 37 hits (18 by the Birds) and 5 homeruns (all by the Birds). The teams traded the lead back and forth in the second and third innings until the Orioles dropped a four-spot in the fourth. The Red Sox countered with 5 runs in the fifth inning to draw within a run but the Orioles answered with 5 runs of their own in the home half of the fifth.

Sending baseballs out of the Yard and into the night were Anthony Santander (3 for 5, 1 2B, 3 Runs Scored, 4 RBI), Ryan Mountcastle (2 for 5, 2 Runs Scored, 3 RBI), Adley Rutschman (3 for 5, 1 2B, 3 Runs Scored, 12 RBI), Ramon Urias (2 for 4, 2 Runs Scored, 1 RBI, 1 HBP) and Jorge Mateo (1 for 5, 1 Run Scored, 3 RBI). The homerun chain got a workout for sure.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 walks.

Austin Hays went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and a walk.

The pitcher of record was Nick Vespi (5-0) who allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.0 inning of relief. Vespi relieved Keegan Akin (0.2 IP, 5 unearned runs, 4 hits, 1 BB, 2 K) who had come in for starter Jordan Lyles (4.0 IP, 4 R, 9 H, 5 K).

O’s pitching held the Red Sox scoreless over the final 3.1 innings until the post-game fireworks went into the night sky.
