The Houston Astros have been in town for two days and have yet to score a run, falling by a score of 6-0 to the Orioles Friday night. In two games the Orioles have limited the Astros to a total of 6 hits with only 1 for extra bases. Right now the story is all about the Orioles pitching staff.
Friday’s starter Dean Kremer (8-5) pitched a complete game, keeping pace with Jordan Lyles and Kyle Bradish. Used for one-third of an inning in three games, the Baltimore bullpen must feel neglected.
Kremer needed 106 pitches, 70 which were strikes, to complete the game. He allowed 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6 to earn the win and lower his ERA to 3.07 in the process. Kremer struck out the side in the 5th inning as well.
Adley Rutschman was the main source of offense, going 3 for 3 with a double, a homerun, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
The Orioles scored 5 runs in the 7th inning with Terrin Vavra (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 1 RBI) and Cedric Mullins (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) right in the middle of it.
Austin Hays went 1 for 4 with a run scored.
Jorge Mateo went 1 for 2 with 2 stolen bases.
