The Baltimore Orioles won 3-2 Friday night over the Kansas City Royals. For those who care about such things, it was their first win while donning the new City Connect uniforms.

The Orioles wasted no time in turning on the sprinklers as Austin Hays (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 Runs, 1 RBI) hit a homerun on the first pitch he saw as the lead-off hitter.

Gunnar Henderson (3 for 3, 1 Run, 2 SB) scored run in the second inning on a Jorge Mateo (1 for 3, 1 RBI, 2 SB) single. Anthony Santander‘s (1 for 3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB) fifth inning double brought Hays home for the Birds third run.

Starter Tyler Wells (5-2) made the most of the team’s three runs, earning the win with a quality start. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits with a walk and 4 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. Wells left the game after allowing two singles and a walk with two outs; he threw 92 pitches (58 strikes) in his start.

Mike Baumann (0.1 IP, 1 K, 1 WP), despite allowing a runner to score on an errant pitch, finished the seventh while Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, 2 H) and Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 2K) finished out the game with Bautista earning his 17th save.

Aaron Hicks went 1 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base.
