The Baltimore Orioles dropped a second game to the Cubs in Wrigley Field Saturday, this time by a score of 3-2. The pitchers did their part but didn’t get the support of the O’s bats. Seven hits but 0-5 with runners in scoring position is not a way to win a game. The Orioles left 9 men on base and despite having a runner on third in the third inning they never reall out any pressure on the Cubs.

Kyle Gibson (8-4) was tagged with the loss despite allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks, 7 strikeouts and a wild pitch thrown over a 6.0 inning start. Bryan Baker (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Danny Coulombe (1.0 IP, 1 H) took over for Gibson and gave the O’s a chance.

Adley Rutschman (1 for 4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB) put the Orioles on the board with a fifth inning two-run homerun.

Austin Hays went 2 for 4 with a run scored and 1 walk.

The rest of the offense was produced by Gunnar Henderson (1 for 3, 1 BB), Aaron Hicks (1 for 3, 1 BB), James McCann (1 for 2) and Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 2).
