Friday night’s game at Orioles Park was as dismal as the Baltimore weather was all day. Not only were the Orioles limited to three runs in a 13-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners, there was a 1 hour 40 minute rain delay to witness it.

Austin Hays (1 for 3) second inning single would be the only Baltimore hit until the seventh when Anthony Santander (1 for 4, 1 R, 1 RBI) hit his 12th homerun of the season to right-center field. After Hays was forced at second, fourteen straight Orioles batters were retired before the Santander went yard. A lead-off single in the eighth by Ryan McKenna (1 for 1) proved to be meaningless in the end.

A rough start by Kyle Gibson (8-5) was the sign of things to come. Gibson took the loss, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits (1 HR) with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Logan Gillaspie relieved Gibson and gave up a homerun and struck out 2 over 2.0 innings.

The game became a hot mess in the eighth when Keegan Akin gave up 7 runs, 6 earned, on 6 hits and a walk in 0.2 inning.

Josh Lester was used to mop up the ninth and he allowed 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 1. Lester threw 18 pitches and topped out at 63 mph.
