The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland A’s 7-2 in 10 innings on Saturday. A five-run outburst by the Orioles in the tenth provided the winning difference. That outburst just illustrates that you cannot stop watching an Orioles game until the final out is recorded.

The game was a normal one until the top of the fourth inning when Austin Hays (1 for 4, 1 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB) produced a “did that just happen?” moment. Batting with one out, Hays hit an 0-1 sweeper 356 ft. down the left-field line that stuck in the foul pole, lodging between the chain-link and the metal frame. James McCann (2 for 5, 1 HR, 1 R, 3 RBI) hit a more “traditional” homerun to left-center two batters later.

The Orioles made the most of their opportunities in the tenth, using 2 hits and a hit by pitch to help put up the crooked number. Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB), Jordan Westburg (0 for 4, 1 RBI), Hays and McCann all knocked in runs in the inning.

Cole Irvin started and allowed 1 run on 4 hits (1 HR), walked 1, struck out 3 and hit 2 batters over 5.0 innings.

Jacob Webb (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 3 K) continues to shine and Felix Bautista (8-2) struck out 1 in 1.0 inning of work to earn the win.
