The finale of the Baltimore Orioles 2023 regular season resulted in a 6-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Game 162 was not a typical Orioles game; Baltimore committed three errors in the game wich resulted in five unearned runs. It was a bad day for Gunnar Henderson (0 fo 3, 1 BB), who committed fielding errors in both the third and the seventh innings.
The Orioles tallies more errors than hits (2) in the game and were held scoreless until the eighth inning. The Orioles were also no-hit for 5.2 innings; Anthony Santander‘s (1 for 4) single broke up the no-hitter and the team finally scored their lone run in the eighth. James McCann (0 for 2, 1 R, 1 BB) walked with one out, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an Adley Rutschman (1 for 3, 1 R, 1 RBI) two out single.
Eight pitchers appeared in the game, which certainly was a plan to get in some work before the five-day layoff during the Wild Card Series. Kyle Bradish started and went 2.0 innings, walking 1 and striking out 1. Danny Coulombe (5-3) was tagged with the loss for his 2 run (1 unearned), 2 hit, 2 strikeout effort (1.0 IP).
Tyler Wells (1.0 IP), Shintaro Fujinami, (1.0 IP) DL Hall (1.0 IP), Cionel Perez (0.2 IP), Yennier Cano (0.1 IP) and Cole Irvin (2.0 IP) all appeared in the game. Of that combined group, Hall allowed 1 hit and Perez was victimized by errors, allowing 4 unearned runs on 2 hits with 3 walks and 1 strikeout; the walks certainly exacerbated the pain of the errors.
