The Baltimore Orioles hit four homeruns in Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin, FL, a game that the Orioles won by a score of 13-8. Toronto did hit two homeruns of their own and the teams combined for a total of 28 hits (11 for extra bases) in a game that took over 3 hours (3:09) to complete.
Connor Norby (1 for 4, HR, R, 2 RBI) started the homerun parade in the fourth inning. The remaining homeruns were hit in the final four innings of the game, four innings in which the Orioles scored a total of 9 runs. Jackson Holliday (2 for 3, HR, 2 R, RBI, BB) homered in the sixth inning and Colton Cowser (1 for 4, HR, R, RBI) and Tyler Nevin (3 for 4, HR, R, 2 RBI) combined to go back-to-back in the seventh.
More proof that the bats are ready, Reed Trimble went 1 for 1 with a double and 1 RBI, Errol Robinson went 1 for 2 with a triple, a run scored and 2 RBI and Shayne Fontana went 1 for 1 with a triple and 1 run scored.
Heston Kjerstad went 3 for 4 with a run scored.
Jordan Westburg went 1 for 2 with a run scored, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch. Westburg left the game as a precautionary measure following the end of the Orioles half of the fourth inning.
Cole Irvin started and left the mound with two outs in the second inning and used the re-entry rule to take the mound in the third. Irvin finished with a line of 3.2 IP, 4 R, 3 H, 5 BB and 2 K. Nick Vespi didn’t fare much better, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits (HR) with a walk, 3 strikeouts and a wild pitch thrown over 1.1 innings.
Alex Pham (1-0) was the pitcher of record and allowed 3 hits while walking 1, striking out 4 and throwing a wild pitch in 2.2 innings.
Trey McGough allowed a run on 1 hit (HR) and struck out 1 in the ninth inning.
