The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-2 on Saturday night. Just as they did on Saturday, the Birds got a big lead before allowing two Twins runs in the ninth inning. The Orioles scored at least one run in each of the first five innings to establish an 8-0 lead.
A pair of homeruns by Emmanuel Rivera (4 for 4, 2B, 2 HR, 3 R, 4 RBI, BB) and a solo shot by Ryan O’Hearn (2 for 5, HR, R, 2 RBI) set the early scoring pace. In a game where several regular starters had the night off, the offense did not miss a beat.
Adley Rutschman went 2 for 6 with a double and 2 RBI.
Jackson Holliday went 3 for 4 with a double, a run scored and 2 walks from the leadoff spot.
Ramon Urias went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
Austin Slater went 1 for 4 with a run scored and a walk.
Ryan Mountcastle went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI.
Heston Kjerstad went 1 for 5.
The Orioles went with a bullpen game for the pitchers. Matt Bowman (1.1 IP, H, 2 K) started, and Tucker Davidson (1-0) took over for 4.2 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 walks with a strikeout. Davidson was the eventual winning pitcher.
Yennier Cano and Cionel Perez each pitched a clean inning with a strikeout.
Keegan Akin didn’t fare so well in the ninth inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits (HR) with a strikeout.
