Career Stats
Quick Scouting Report Update: “Best pitcher in camp” was multiple observer’s evaluation of his performance in the auxiliary camp. His camp ended early due to a flexor strain in his right elbow, but it’s not expected to affect him next season or require surgery. Baumann brings a high spin rate fastball, but can get work it well low in the zone where batters give up on the pitch but it stays a strike. All of pitches showed more power to them and was better than both Keegan Akin and Dean Kremer, both of who made major league debuts in 2020. commanding his changeup much better giving him that third pitch, maximizing his ability to stick as a starter. Afterall, this is the guy who last year threw a 99 MPH fastball in the 9th inning of a no-hitter at AA.

Once a reliever risk, Baumann has established himself as the 2nd best pitching prospect with a chance to stick as a starter. Doesn’t have the pure stuff as DL Hall, but commands the ball better and may be actually undervalued at this position in the rankings.
