The Baltimore Orioles lost a second game in a row to the New York Yankees by a score of 7-2. Yankees’ starter Gerrit Cole held the Orioles down for 7.0 innings, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 13 of the 25 batters he faced.
The Birds were held scoreless until the ninth inning when Rio Ruiz hit a 2 run homer off of Yankee reliever Lucas Luetage.
Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored while Maikel Franco went 2 for 4 as well.
Starter Dean Kremer struggled through 3.0 innings of work, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 4, striking out 5 and giving up a homerun to Jay Bruce in the 2nd inning. Kremer threw 85 pitches over his three innings.
For a second night in a row, Aaron Judge homered and played a part in Kremer’s struggles as he hit a ball off of the pitcher in the first inning.
Pitching the 8th inning, Wade LeBlanc gave up 3 runs on 3 hits including the aforementioned homerun to Judge.
