Jonathan Schoop went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. He’s the Hangout Player of the Game.

Starting Pitching

  • Chris Tillman had his usual first inning struggles but was able to escape with just two runs on the board. He settled in after that, allowing a solo home run to Andrew Benintendi in the 3rd, but otherwise pitched effectively through five. The Red Sox would add two more unearned runs in the 6th and Tillman ultimately took the loss. Final Line: 6 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, Loss.

Relief Pitching

  • Mike Wright worked 2.1 innings of relief, allowing two earned runs. Andrew Benintendi homered again and later hit an RBI single in the 9th.
  • Richard Bleier picked up the final two outs in the top of the 9th.

Hitting

  • Joey Rickard hit a leadoff double in the first and later stole third base. He was initially called out at third but carefully got his right hand around the glove of Pablo Sandoval and touched third before he was tagged.
  • Chris Davis hit a two-run double to tie the score back up in the 1st.
  • Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with a double.
