Orioles Fall 5-2 As Boston Evens Series

Alec Asher made his second start for the Orioles this year and once again he delivered a quality start. Asher went six strong and other than a pair of solo bombs allowed to Hanley Ramirez, handled the Red Sox lineup pretty well. Going up against Chris Sale is a tall order and Asher ultimately took the loss in this one. Asher did his job though and gave the O’s a chance to win. He’s the Hangout Player of the Game. Final Line: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, BB, 4 K, Loss.

Hitting

  • The bats collected just three hits all night against Chris Sale who looks like the early favorite for AL Cy Young if he keeps this up.
  • Manny Machado got the Orioles on the board with a solo home run in the 5th. That’s home run number six for Manny.
  • Trey Mancini accounted for the other run with an RBI double in the 7th

Relief

  • Donnie Hart and Mychal Givens allowed a pair of runs to score in the 7th, giving the Red Sox key insurance runs.
  • Zach Britton is back! He worked a scoreless 8th with a single and a walk allowed.

Defense

  • Adam Jones made a nice leaping catch at the wall in the 5th that helped Asher work out of a first and third jam.
