Starting Pitcher: Wade LeBlanc- (0-1, 4.50)

It was not a long day for orioles starter Wade LeBlanc who got leadoff hitter Brett Gardner out then had to leave the game after holding his wrist . Brandon Hyde brought in newly recalled Travis Lakins to face the dangerous Yankees lineup.

The Orioles though got on the board first when leading off the 2nd inning, Renato Nunez got a hanging changeup by Jordan Montgomery and hooked it into the left field stands for a home run and 1-0 lead.

Lakins did pretty good until the bottom of the 4th when he started to tire. After giving up back to back singles to lead off the inning, Hyde pulled him in favor of Shawn Armstrong. Armstrong got Gleyber Torres to fly out toe warning track but Giacarlo Stanton took Armstrong deep to right center for a three-run bomb and a Yankees 3-1 lead. Gary Sanchez made it back to back shots as he teed off on Armstrong with a homer to left field to make it 4-1.

Gio Ursela added another home run off Armstrong to make it 5-1.

Trying to eat up innings to save the bullpen, Armstrong was brought back out in the 6th where Torres met him with a sharp single and Stanton hit one to the moon towards center to make it 7-1. Hyde mercifully pulled the extremely ineffective Armstrong for Paul Fry.

After dominating the Orioles after the Nunez home run in the 2nd, the Orioles finally got to Montgomery in the top of the 7th when Rio Ruiz singled in Nunez to make it 7-2. The Orioles would end up loading the bases with one out, but successive strikeouts by Dwight Smith Jr. and Pat Valiaka ended the threat.

After holding the Yankees down, they started to get to a tiring Fry after putting two men on with two outs. With Torres coming to the plate, Hyde went to his pen again and brought in Miguel Castro who got him to hit dribbler in front of the plate that Pedro Severino easily scooped and threw him out to end the threat.

Castro kept the Yankees scoreless in the 8th but got an asset from center fielder Austin Hays who made a catch and strong throw to home to keep Stanton from scoring on a sacrifice fly.

Orioles Player of the Game: Renato Nunez (2-for-3, BB, HR)
