Orioles drop another, 4-1 to Chisox

Gio Gonzalez and the White Sox bullpen kept the Orioles offense off the board besides a Chris Davis solo home run as fall 4-1 to the White Sox.

Orioles Moves and News

JT Brubaker was optioned to Norfolk (AAA) and INF Richie Martin was recalled.

UTL Andrew Velazquez had to leave yesterday’s game with an ankle injury. He’s day to day and is not expected to go in the IL but could be out a few games.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Yasmani Grandal hit a solo home run to make it 1-0. They added to the lead in the bottom of 3rd with an RBI double to make it 2-0. Then another in the 4th to make it 3-0.

In the top of the 5th, Chris Davis, who was getting a rare start, led off with a solo home run, his first of the year to make it 3-1.

A lead off homer in the 6th got that run back and ended Wei Yin Chen‘s (5IP, 4ER) start. Robbie Erlin came on and tossed three shut innings of relief to keep it 4-1, but the Orioles offense took the day off and the game ended 4-1.

Minor League Highlights

Norfolk won 2-0 (11-13)

Bruce Zimmermann (3.04) tossed 6.1 shutout innings. Yusniel Diaz went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Bowie won 4-1 (15-8)

Kyle Bradish (5.70) allowed just one earned run with 5 Ks in 6 IP. Ryan McKenna (.244) went 2-for-4 with a double.

Keys won 7-2 (11-13)

Gray Fenter (6.14) struck out eight and allowed two earned tuns in 4.2 IP. Adam Hall (.214) went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the year.

Delmarva won 8-2 (11-14)

Griffin McLarty (4.70) struck out seven and allowed to one run in 5 IP. 1B Andrew Daschbach (.291) smacked a three run homer, his 4th of the year.
