The game did not start well for the Orioles. Starter Wade LeBlanc surrendered a lead-off homerun to Kevin Pillar and then left the game after retiring two and walking one batter; LeBlanc was reported to have left elbow discomfort.

Thomas Eshelman entered the game in relief of LeBlanc and walked Christian Vazquez. Eshelman then proceeded to retire the next 13 batters he faced. He earned the win as the Birds held on for a 5-4 victory over the Red Sox. Eshelman’s line: 4.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB and 2 K.

Ryan Mountcastle recorded his first MLB extra-base hit and went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 1 walk.

Rio Ruiz was the big run producer; he went 2 for 4 with 1 double and 4 RBI.

Tanner Scott allowed a Jackie Bradley, Jr two-run homer in the 9th to draw the Red Sox within one but held on for the save, his first.
