Two rain delays, two hits, two runs, that is the story of the Orioles 10-2 loss at the hand of the Houston Astros Monday night. Additionally, the Astros were two innings away from no-hitting the Birds.

Maikel Franco’s (1 for 3, 1 R, 2 RBI) eighth inning homerun was the Orioles first hit as well as all of their scoring; Austin Hays (0 for 2, 1 R) was on base after being hit by a pitch.

Stevie Wilkerson (1 for 3) followed that homerun with a single of his own.

Houston pitching kept the Orioles in check by striking out 15 batters and walking just 1. DJ Stewart (0 for 3) worked that walk but also struck out 3 times.

Keegan Akin started and took the loss. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits while walking 4, striking out 5 and surrendering a Yordan Alvarez homerun in 4.0 innings of work. Akin took the loss and is now 0-3 on the year.

Mac Sceroler pitched the eighth inning and did not do well after the second rain delay. He allowed 3 unearned runs (due to a Pat Valaika throwing error) on 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2.
