The show that is Baltimore Orioles baseball rolled into Kansas City Tuesday. The headliners were the bats and gloves as the Birds beat the Royals by a score of 11 to 7.

Leading the way with the bat was Ryan Mountcastle. The first baseman went 3 for 6 with a double, 2 two-run homeruns, 3 runs scored and 5 RBI.

Adley Rutschman reached base five times, going 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI and a walk.

James McCann went 3 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

The offensive show-topper was Anthony Santander’s ( 2 for 5, 2 runs scored, 1 BB) epic eighth inning at-bat. In what was a 7 minute at-bat (including an injury time-out for Salvador Perez), Santander fouled off 12 consecutive pitches before hitting a single on the 16th pitch.

There were multiple glove highlights but none was better than Cedric Mullins (1 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 2 BB) all-out diving catch in the fifth inning.

Gunnar Henderson (0 for 2, 1 run scored, 3 BB) made a web-gem worthy 5-3 put out in the fourth and Mountcastle made a leaping hit-saving catch in the same inning.

Starting pitcher Tyler Wells (2-1) recorded the win. He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits (3 HR), walked 3, struck out 4 and hit a batter in 6.0 innings.
