Thursday’s game with the Kansas City Royals can only be described as an emotional roller-coaster. Leading 8-1 after two and a half innings, the Baltimore Orioles gave up nine runs to the Royals over the next five home innings. Trailing 10-8 entering the eighth inning, the Orioles scored five runs combined in the eighth and ninth to win the game 13-10.

Key to the late inning rally was traffic on the bases and the running game; the Orioles stole five bases to keep the line moving during the rally.

There wouldn’t have been a win without Ramon Urias. Entering the game in the eighth as a pinch-hitter for Gunnar Henderson (1 for 2, 1 homerun, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, 1 BB), Urias went 2 for 2 with a double, 4 RBI and 2 stolen bases.

Adam Frazier (2 for 3, 2 runs scored, 2 BB, 1 SB), Jorge Mateo (1 for 4, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB) and even James McCann (0 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 BB, 1 SB) got into the steal a base mode.

Anthony Santander went 2 for 5 with a homerun, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

Cedric Mullins went 1 for 5 with a double, 3 RBI and a walk.

Starter Grayson Rodriguez was not at his best, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits (3 HR), walking 1 and striking out 3 in 3.2 innings.

Yennier Cano (1-0) was credited with the win for his 2.0 inning effort in which he allowed 1 hit and struck out 3.
