Friday’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers had a definite party atmosphere. It was the debut of the much discussed Baltimore City Connect uniforms and the unveiling of a Baltimore themed mural on the concourse.

The party looked to continue when Adley Rutschman (3 for 3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB) deposited his eighth homerun of the season into right field. Texas then became party poopers as they defeated the Orioles 12-2.

Terrin Vavra (1 for 1, 1 RBI) knocked in Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 4, 1 2B, 1 R) for the Orioles second run in the eighth.

Austin Hays went 2 for 4 with a double.

Grayson Rodriguez (2-2) had a rough start, allowing 9 runs, 8 earned, on 6 hits (3 HR), walked 3 and struck out 6 over 3.1 innings. The big blow in Rodriguez’s loss was Corey Seager’s 4th inning grand slam homerun. Rodriguez was optioned to Norfolk (AAA) after the game.

Ryan McKenna pitched the ninth inning and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits on 18 pitches (11 strikes) that didn’t even break 40 mph.
