By way of their 3-2 win on Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles were able to avoid a series sweep by the Texas Rangers. No, the Orioles were not wearing the City Connect uniforms and that fact had nothing to do with the victory (I have seen and read chatter that the black jerseys were why the O’s lost Friday and Saturday). The win came about due to the trio of Bradish, Hays and Bautista.

A quality start by Kyle Bradish set the tone on this Sunday. The 26 year old righty allowed just 1 run on 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4 over 6.2 innings of work. Unfortunately for Bradish all he had to show for it was a no-decision.

Austin Hays went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI. It was his eighth inning single that allowed Cedric Mullins (1 for 3, 2 R, 1 BB), who had walked to open the inning and advanced to third on an Adley Rutschman (2 for 4, 1 R) run-and-hit single, to cross the plate with what would be the winning run.

Felix Bautista struck out the side in the ninth on 15 pitches (10 strikes) to earn his 13th save of the season. The “Mountain” gave the Rangers two pitches to attempt to hit, the sinker at 87.7 to 90.1 mph and the four seam fastball at 97.9 to 101.7 mph.

Jorge Mateo went 1 for 3.

The winning pitcher was Danny Coulombe (2-1), who tallied the final out of the eighth inning.
