Several numbers were prominent on Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards: 90, 14, 7 and 33.

On a steamy and sticky 90 degree night in Baltimore, 28,593 fans witnessed the Orioles defeat the Miami Marlins by a score of 6-5. Early on, the game looked to be a run fest. Miami scored four runs in their half of the second inning and the Orioles answered that with three runs in their half of the inning.

Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 3, 1 2B, 1 R) doubled to start the inning. An Aaron Hicks (1 for 3, 1 R, 1 BB) walk and a Cedric Mullins (1 for 1, 1 RBI) RBI single followed and a Jorge Mateo triple (1 for 2, 1 3B, 2 RBI) (out call overturned on challenge) brought Hicks and Colton Cowser (0 for 3, 1 R) home. Cowser entered the game for Mullins who left with right quadricep muscle tightness.

Miami scored a run in the fourth to take advantage of a not so sharp Kyle Gibson. Gibson allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, walked 2, struck out 1 and threw a wild pitch in a 5.1 inning start. Adley Rutschman (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 R) and Anthony Santander (2 for 4, 2 RBI, 1 SB) combined to get that run back in the fifth inning.

In the seventh, Gunnar Henderson (1 for 3, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB) hit his 14th homerun of the season, a 371 foot shot that landed in the right field flag court, to tie the game and Santander brought Austin Hays (1 for 5, 1 R) home with the eventual winning run. Henderson also flashed the leather on defense, making a few sweet plays to keep the Marlins in check.

The win was the Orioles 7th win in a row and the 33rd come from behind victory in 2023, proving if you have a ticket to an Orioles game, you cannot leave until the final out is recorded.

Mike Baumann (6-0) allowed 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 1 over 1.2 innings to get credit for the win. Do the Orioles have a Phil “The Vulture” Regan in the making?

Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, 1 H) and Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 1 K) did what “The Rock” and “The Mountain” do, prevent the opponent from reaching the summit, with Bautista recording his 25th save of the year.
