The Baltimore Orioles left Toronto on Thursday with a 6-1 win over the Blue Jays in hand. Ryan Mountcastle did the thing he always does when in Toronto and that is hit and hit well. Mountcastle went 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI on the day.

The newest bird in the nest, Jack Flaherty (8-6), made his debut for the Orioles and did what Baltimore starter frequently do and that is give the team a quality start. Flaherty allowed 1 run on 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 8 on 92 pitches (61 strikes) over 6.0 innings to earn his first win in the orange and black. He also retired 15 Blue Jays in a row afetr giving up a single and allowing a walk to open the game.

The bullpen backed up Flaherty’s effort as Danny Coulombe (1.0 IP, 2K), Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, 1 K) and Mike Baumann (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) combining to shut down the Blue Jays.

Austin Hays, not going to be outdone by Mountcastle, went 4 for 5 with a double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

Adam Frazier went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Adley Rutschman went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI.

Colton Cowser went 1 for 1 with a double and 1 run scored.
