The Baltimore orioles defeated the New York Mets 7-3 on Saturday evening. Among the sell out crowd 44,326 fans were 20 members of the 1983 World Series Championship team. The organization celebrated the 40th anniversary of that championship and the 2023 Orioles presented them with an exciting game and win.

Gunnar Henderson (1 for 4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB) started the festivities off by hitting his 19th homerun of the season in the first inning. The Orioles then proceeded to score a run in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings.

Highlighting that four inning stretch was Anthony Santander (2 for 5, 1 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI) who hit his 20th homerun of the season in the 5th inning 406 feet to the right field flag court.

Starting pitcher Kyle Gibson (11-6) did what a veteran leader does and gave the team a quality start. Saturday’s winning pitcher tossed 7.0 innings (98 pitches, 60 strikes), allowing 3 runs on 7 hits (1 HR), walking 1 and striking out 9. The win was career win #100 for Gibson.

Adley Rutschman went 2 for 5 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Ryan O’Hearn went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.

Colton Cowser (1 for 3, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 SB) not only threw out Brandon Nimmo at second base from left field in the 8th inning, he stole his first base of the season in that inning.

Jorge Mateo (0 for 0) entered the game as the center fielder in the 8th inning.
