Friday night’s 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks was the result of two things, two two-run homeruns surrendered by Baltimore pitching. Orioles starter Cole Irvin (1-4), who allowed 4 runs on 8 hits (2 HR) while walking 1 and striking out 4 over 5.2 innings, gave up a two-run homerun to Lourdes Gurriel Jr in the first inning and one to former Baltimore farmhand Christian Walker in the sixth. As a result, Irvin took the loss.

For the most part, Arizona pitching held the Orioles in check and was led by another former member of the Baltimore organization, Zach Davies. The lone exception was Ryan O’Hearn who went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI.

Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored and threw out Corbin Carroll at home in the fourth inning when Carroll attempted to tag-up on an over the shoulder catch by Henderson in short left field.

Jordan Westburg went 1 for 4 with a seventh inning double.

Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 with a stolen base while Austin Hays and Ramon Urias each collected a hit.
