One day after an electric pennant-clinching game, Camden Yards seemed to be on battery back-up, at least as far as Friday’s game was concerned. Even big Ben McDonald, who served as the celebrity guest splasher in the Bird Bath, couldn’t generate excitement and in fact, resorted to spraying the Splash Zone when the Boston Red Sox recorded an out.

Three runs and seven hits were the offense generated on Friday as the Baltimore Orioles were shut out 3-0 by the Red Sox.

John Means (1-2), who was making his fourth start of the season, did his job by allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits, including a Trevor Story two-run homerun, and struck out 4 over 6.1 innings.

Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4.

Jordan Westburg went 1 for 3 with a double.

James McCann went 0 for 2 with a walk.

Jorge Lopez walked 1 and struck out 2 over 1.2 innings of relief.

Shintaro Fujinami allowed 1 run on 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 1 over 1.0 inning, and continues to allow questions as to which version will emerge when he is called on.
