Two pitches into Sunday’s game one had to wonder what kind of day it would be. Milwaukee’s William Contreras deposited a Corbin Burnes 95.9 mph cutter 420 ft. into centerfield for a homerun. The game became a bit if a back and forth affair and in the end the Baltimore Orioles prevailed over the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 6-4. With the win, Baltimore now has gone 96 series of 2+ games without being swept.

Burnes, while not at his very best against his former team, did give the Orioles 5.0 innings of work, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits (HR) with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. He seemed to lose track of his disengagements and was called for a balk in the third inning and his throwing error on a Brice Turang bunt in the fourth led to the unearned run.

The other headline of the day was Jackson Holliday (1 for 4, R, 2 K) getting his first MLB hit, a single to right in the seventh inning. It is another box checked for the 20 year old phenom.

Cedric Mullins is heating up; he went 2 for 4 with a double, a homerun, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Ryan O’Hearn continues to perform, going 2 for 3 with a homerun, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

Colton Cowser continued his hot streak, going 1 for 3 with a homerun, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and a walk. Cowser is currently slashing .441/ .474/ .971/ 1.445 on the season.

Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch.

Getting the win today was Yennier Cano (2-1) for a 1 run, 2 hit (HR) effort with a strike out in 1.1 innings of work.

Craig Kimbrel (1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 K) earned the save, his 3rd of the season and the 420th of his illustrious career.
