Tuesday’s battle of the City Connect Identities went to the Washington Nationals by a score of 3-0. The Baltimore Orioles were limited by Washington pitching to just three hits on the evening, all singles. In fact the Orioles went three up – three down in five of the nine innings and managed to put a runner in scoring position in the first inning only.

Starter Corbin Burnes (3-2) deserved better for his quality start. Burnes allowed 3 runs on 5 hits with 3 walks, 6 strikeouts and a balk. Making matters worse was the fact that the Nats stole three bases (four total for the contest) with Burnes on the mound.

Jacob Webb walked 2 and struck out 1 in 0.2 inning and Keegan Akin allowed a hit, a walk and struck out 1 in 1.0 inning.

Adley Rutschman (1 for 4, SB), Jordan Westburg (1 for 3) and Cedric Mullins (1 for 3) were the only Orioles hitters to get a hit; Westburg also reached base on a fielding error in the second inning.

Three hits and four baserunners were not enough to take the bloom off of the cherry blossoms on this night.
