Saturday’s game at Camden Yards was delayed by 2:58 minutes and once play commenced the Baltimore Orioles established a 2-0 lead by the end of three innings. A quality start by Grayson Rodriguez provided hope that the lead would hold up. A rare burp by the bullpen turned it into a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners.

Rodriguez was stout following his return from the IL, allowing 1 hit, walking 3, striking out 7 and hitting a batter over 6.0 scoreless innings. He turned it over to the bullpen and that’s when things went south. Danny Coulombe allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 0.1 inning and Yennier Cano (2-2) allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 0.1 inning as well and was tagged with the loss.

Cionel Perez (1.2 IP, H, BB, 2 K) stabilized things which allowed a ninth inning homerun by Gunnar Henderson (1 for 3, HR, R, RBI, 2 BB) to give hope for yet another Orioles comeback.

The Orioles opened the scoring with a second inning triple by Jordan Westburg (1 for 3, 3B, R, BB) who then scored on an Austin Hays (0 for 3, RBI) sac fly.

Jorge Mateo (2 for 3, 2B, R, SB) opened the third inning with a double and scored on a Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 4, RBI) RBI single.

A long but promising day turned sour in the seventh and eighth innings.
