Mayo Says Don’t Forget I’m A Condiment Too

Fans attending Saturday night’s game at Camden Yards received one of three hot dog race caps, ketchup, mustard or relish. Many of those fans wore shirts that went with the cap they received. Camden Yards was a sea of orange, red, yellow and green as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals (38-58) by a score of 6-1. The win extends the O’s current winning streak to three games.

Coby Mayo (1 for 3) hit a majestic homerun down the left field line that struck the ribbon board on the Club Level in the fifth inning. The blast was Mayo’s second time reaching that level of the ballpark. Mayo sent a 85.5 mph slider from the Royals’ Noah Cameron 440 ft. at 110.4 mph to the ribbon board for his 12th homerun of the season. It was as if Coby was saying don’t forget the mayo.

The story of the night was the start that Kyle Bradish (6-9) delivered. Throwing a no-hitter through 6.0 innings, Bradish gave up a single to Jac Caglianone to open the seventh inning. A wild pitch with one out resulted in both a walk and Caglianone advancing to third. Salvador Perez‘s sacrifice fly scored Caglianone. A single later Bradish’s night ended with a line of 1 run allowed on 2 hits with 2 walks, 5 strike outs and a wild pitch over 6.2 innings. He was the winning pitcher, however.

Pete Alonso (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) doubled and scored on a Samuel Basallo (1 for 3, RBI) single in the second inning. Alonso added a two-run homerun to center field in the fourth.

Taylor Ward (1 for 3, 2 R, RBI, BB) hit his first homerun at Camden Yards in the sixth, 354 ft. to right field.

In the eighth inning Gunnar Henderson (1 for 4) hit Baltimore’s fourth homerun on the night and his 17th of the season.

Will this momentum result in a win and four game winning streak or will tomorrow see the end of another three game streak?
