Saturday night 37,883 fans packed their way into Camden Yards and they were rewarded with a thrilling walk-off win. For the second night in a row the Baltimore Orioles entered the ninth inning tied with the Atlanta Braves (61-43) and unlike Friday night, the Orioles avoided extra innings by winning 3-2 in walk-off fashion.
Jackson Holliday (2 for 3, 2B, R, BB) doubled with one out in the ninth and advanced to third on a Colton Cowser fly out to center field. Dylan Beavers (2 for 4, RBI, BB) the hit the first pitch he saw, a 100.1 mph 4-seam fastball, to center field for a RBI-single that allowed Holliday to score the winning walk-off run.
The Orioles scored their first run in the third inning on a Christian Encarnacion-Strand RBI single, Pete Alonso, who reached base on a fielding error by Atlanta shortstop Jim Jarvis.
Gunnar Henderson (1 for 4) gave the Orioles a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning with his 18th homerun of the season. His solo homerun travelled 392 ft. to right cebter field.
Baltimore starter Brandon Young gave the team a quality start, allowing 1 run on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6 over 6.1 innings. He threw 94 pitches (58 K’s) to 25 Atlanta batters.
For the second night in a row, Rico Garcia gave up an eighth inning homerun; Ozzie Albies was the one to take Garcis deep on this night.
Yennier Cano (2-2) was credited with the win for his clean ninth inning; he struck out 1 batter in the inning.
