On Sunday night at Camden Yards, the team with the best record in MLB did exactly what they wanted to do and that is take advantage of a lesser opponent.. The Milwaukee Brewers (98-58) completed a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with their 3-0 win. It was the second straight shutout of the Orioles and it all but ended their slight AL Wild Card dreams.
Over the three game, Baltimore scored five runs and if you include the 10th inning on Friday, the Orioles were held scoreless for nineteen innings. Throw in the Baltimore Ravens’ 24-17 loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore’s big sports doubleheader left nothing but disappointment, angry tailgaters and traffic headaches.
Brandon Young (9-5) gave the O’s a quality start but did not receive the commensurate offensive support. Young allowed 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 9 strike outs over 6.0 innings. He also gave up a fourth inning solo homerun to William Contreras.
Making his first appearance of the 2026 season, Felix Bautista relieved Young and allowed a run on 2 hits with a walk and 2 strike outs in two-thirds of an inning.
Grant Wolfram (1.1 IP) and Cam Sanders (1.0 IP) finished the game for the Orioles.
As to the Baltimore offense, or lack thereof, Colton Cowser went 2 for 4 while Coby Mayo (1 for 3, BB) and Carlos Narvaez (1 for 2) recorded the team’s other two hits.
The Orioles’ best scoring chance came in the sixth inning when Gunnar Henderson was hit by a pitch and advanced to third base on a pair of wild pitches, Back-to-back walks by Mayo and Samuel Basallo loaded the bases with two outs before Jeremiah Jackson grounded out to firsst base to end the inning..
In the seventh, Cowser singled and moved into scoring position when Christian Encarnacion-Strand drew a walk with one out. Sadly, Cowser advanced no further.
Overall, the Birds went 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position.
What the game down to was what Milwaukee did with 6 hits compared to what the O’s couldn’t do with 4 hits.
