The only offense that the Orioles could generate against the Yankees came of the bat of D.J. Stewart. His first inning homer was all the scoring the team could do. Stewart finished the night 2 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
Keegan Akin started and struggled mightily. Akin surrendered 4 runs on 3 hits, gave up 1 walk and struck out 1 in just two-thirds of an inning.
Two poor throws by Orioles fielders did not help the cause either.
Asher Wojciechowski was also shelled by the Yankees; he surrendered 6 runs (2 homeruns) on 5 hits with 3 walks and 1 strikeout over 1.2 innings pitched.
Luke Voit hit two homers, both off of Wojciechowski, for the Yankees.
The loss drops the Orioles 3.5 games behind the Yankees in the Wild Card race.
