Monday’s day off did not cool off the Orioles bats. The Birds scored double-digit runs with double-digit hits for the second game in a row as they defeated the New York Mets 10-3 on Tuesday.
Every starter except Ryan McKenna (0 for 4) had at least one of the team’s 16 total hits. Freddy Galvis (3 for 5, 1 2B, 2 runs scored) led the way with homerun help from Maikel Franco (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 runs scored, 3 RBI) and Anthony Santander (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB).
Second baseman Pat Valaika had a big night as well, going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 3 RBI.
Cedric Mullins continues to do what he does by going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.
The pitching was just as good. Bruce Zimmermann started and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, one a Pete Alonso homerun, while walking 2 and striking out 7.
Hunter Harvey (1.0 IP, 1 H) and Tyler Wells (2.0 IP, 1 K) continue to shine coming out of the bullpen.
The Orioles are now 5-1 in the month of June after going 5-23 in May.
