Not quite sure what to expect after the first two innings Tuesday, the game settled down. What was a 4-3 Boston lead after two ended in an 8-3 loss by the Baltimore Orioles to the Boston Red Sox.

Starter Grayson Rodriguez (5-2) allowed four runs on six hits, including a homerun, with a walk and a hit batter in the first two innings before finishing with a line of 6.0 innings pitched, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits (HR) with a walk, a career high 10 strikeouts and a hit batter. Rodriguez was tagged with the loss once the Orioles bats fell relatively silent.

Baltimore scored their three runs in the first on a double by Gunnar Henderson (1 for 5, 2B, R), an Adley Rutschman (1 for 4, BB) walk and singles by Colton Cowser (1 for 5, R, RBI) and Jordan Westburg (2 for 3, 2 RBI, HBP). The Orioles were limited to four additional hits, all singles, the rest of the game.

Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 4 with a run scored and a walk.

Anthony Santander went 1 for 3 and was hit by a pitch.

Kyle Stowers went 1 for 2.

A possible cause for alarm may be the recent performance of Keegan Akin, who pitched the ninth inning. Akin allowed 3 runs on 2 hits (HR) with a walk and a strikeout in 1.0 inning of work. In his last three appearances Akin has allowed 7 runs on 6 hits (2 HR) over 5.0 innings.
