The Baltimore Orioles shut out the Tampa Bay Rays in dominant fashion 5-0 on Saturday. Pitching ruled the day until the bats found a way to get going and get going they did. The Orioles hit two homeruns in the game and now have hit 100 homeruns on the season and as of this moment lead all of MLB in that statistical category.

Kyle Bradish (2-0) started and immediately allowed a 72.1 mph infield single to Tampa Bay’s Yandy Diaz. from that point on Bradish lowered the hammer on the Rays, retiring the next eighteen batter he faced, striking out the final six batters he faced. Bradish earned the win and finished with a line of 6.0 innings pitched, 1 hit allowed and 9 strike outs.

Danny Coulombe (2.0 IP, 3 K) took it from there, Cionel Perez (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) advanced the hitless streak until allowing a 97 mph to none other than Diaz. Twenty-six outs in a row recorded by Baltimore hurlers.

That bats started with a Ryan O’Hearn (2 for 4, HR, 2 R, RBI, SB) homerun in the fourth inning. They continued with a Jordan Westburg (1 for 5, 3B, RBI) eighth inning RBI triple and the piece de resistance was a Gunnar Henderson (1 for 4, HR, R, 3 RBI, BB) three-run homerun in the ninth inning, his 20th homer of the season, that put the game out of reach for all intents and purposes.

Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle each went 1 for 4 with a walk. Anthony Santander went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.

Connor Norby went 1 for 4 with a run scored.

Kyle Stowers (0 for 2) was removed in the sixth inning with right wrist discomfort; something to keep an eye on going forward.
