The Baltimore Orioles were shutout 2-0 by the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The team will go on a road trip to Boston and Detroit before coming back to Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the final homestand of 2024. The season will conclude with games in the Bronx and Minnesota.
Five hits among two players were all the Baltimore offense could muster. Gunnar Henderson went 3 for 4 with a stolen base and Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4.
Starter Corbin Burnes (13-8) deserved better for his effort. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, including 1 homerun, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Burnes threw 93 pitches, 62 for strikes and was tagged with the loss.
Matt Bowman (1.2 IP, 2 K) and Keegan Akin (1.1 IP, H, 3 K) kept the score at 2-0 but the offense just wasn’t there. The O’s wasted a two on and no outs opportunity in the eighth inning as well as a two on with two outs in the ninth.
2024 Record: 82-62
Next Game: Mon. 9/9 vs. Red Sox in Boston @ 7:10 pm
