LA Had Nothing For Mr. Rogers

In a performance reminiscent of 2025, Trevor Rogers (4-7) completely dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers (49-28) on Saturday night and played the role of catalyst in the Baltimore Orioles’ 3-2 win over the defending World Champions.

From the start the Dodgers had no answer for Rogers’ pitching. Following a one-out walk in the first inning, Rogers retired 12 batters in a row. A ffith inning single by Tommy Edman broke that streak. Rogers then retired the next six Dodgers’ batters before issuing a two-out walk to Mookie Betts in the seventh. Having thrown 96 pitches (60 K’s) to 23 batters, Rogers finished his day by allowing 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 6 over 7.0 innings; he faced two batters over the minimum.

With the win, Rogers has now produced back-to-back quality starts and has five such starts on the season.

The Orioles scored all of their runs off of LA’s Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-5) who also made a quality start but was outpitched by Rogers.

The Orioles plated their first uon on a Coby Mayo (0 for 3, RBI) force out at second base that allowed Leody Taveras (2 for 4, 2 R) to score.

Blaze Alexander (1 for 4, 2 RBI) doubled with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth inning, scoring both Taveras and Colton Cowser (1 for 3, R).

Those two runs proved to be crucial as the Dodgers touched Andrew Kittredge for 2 runs (1 earned). News Flash: Shohei Ohtani hit a homerun to open the home half of the ninth inning, his 16th of the season. A fielding error by Taveras on an Edman hit with runners at first and second and two outs allowed the Dodgers to score their second run of the game.
