The current West Coast trip moved south to Anaheim Monday for the Baltimore Orioles to play a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels (32-48). The series began with a 6-1 win by the Orioles, their third win in a row. Pitching was front and center in the win and was bolstered by a pair of homeruns.
Kyle Bradish (5-7) was dominant in his 16th start of the season. The right-hander pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and allowed 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9. Bradish found his way out of a runners on first and second with one out situation in the first and faced little pressure after that to coast to the win.
Reliever Rico Garcia did allow a homerun to Angels’ DH Jorge Soler in the ninth. That was the lone blemish on the night.
Baltimore jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Taylor Ward (2 for 5, 2 R) homerun to start the game. Ward went 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI in his return to Anaheim after spending eight seasons with the Angels.
The Orioles were held in check until the fourth inning when Coby Mayo (1 for 4) blasted a no-out, rhree-run homerun 368 ft. to left field.
A sacrifice fly by Pete Alonso (1 for 4, R) with the bases loaded in the fifth produced the Orioles’ fifth run.
Baltimore appeared to have scored a run in the sixth but a successful challenge by the Angels ruled that Jeremiah Jackson (1 for 4, R) was out at home.
Gunnar Henderson‘s (3 for 4, R) triple in the seventh allowed Ward to score the final run for the Orioles in the seventh inning.
Despite Ward’s successful return to Anaheim, the story of the game was Bradish’s start.
Now that the Orioles are on another three-game winning streak, the question becomes will the Birds repeat the pattern of ending such a streak with a loss or will they finally extend a winning streak beyond three games. Stay tuned.
2026 Record: 38-42
