Seth Smith had a big day at the plate. He finished 3-for-5 with his 7th home run, a double, and three runs scored. He’s the Hangout Player of the Game!

Starting Pitching

  • Ubaldo Jimenez made his first start since and turned in one of his better outings in a while. He worked seven quality innings allowing just two runs on a pair of solo home runs. Let’s hope he can build on this. Final Line: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, Win.

Relief Pitching

  • Vidal Nuno didn’t record an out in the 8th after serving up a two-run homer to Dexter Fowler.
  • Miguel Castro took over and worked out of the 8th, allowing one run on a solo shot to Yadier Molina.
  • Brad Brach got the save, his 12th of the season, and lowered his ERA to 2.67.

Hitting

  • Mark Trumbo hit a two-run blast in the 5th, his 10th of the season.
  • Trey Mancini homered in the 2nd, his 12th of the season. He finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and also hit his first career triple.
  • Welington Castillo tacked on another home run in the 5th, his 7th of the season.

Defense

  • Trey Mancini made a nice double play on a liner up to first base. He couldn’t quite make the catch on the liner but quickly picked up the ball and tagged the runner at first out and then stepped on the first base to complete the unassisted double play.
