David Hess allowed no hits for six and a third innings and then Manager Brandon Hyde pulled him to watch Pedro Araujo walk a batter and allow a Randal Grichuk two run homer.
Jonathan Villar and Trey Mancini homered. Chris Davis walked with the bases loaded, Trey Mancini hit a sacrifice fly and a run scored on a wild pitch.
Araujo’s leftover rule five status required that he be used only with a six run deficit but Hyde had no option but to try him with a six run lead.
Mike Wright pitched the eighth inning. He allowed a solo homer. After giving up a single in the ninth, Wright was replaced by Richard Bleier.
Richie Martin made a fantastic play on a ball deflected off Bleier’s leg for the first out. Villar and Rickard made a horrible play to put runners on second and third. A sac fly left the Orioles clinging to a two run lead. Teoscar Hernandez represented the tying run. He drove in a run with a triple. Lourdes Gurriel fell behind 0-2. He struck him out on a high swinging fastball for the save.
Trey Mancini made a good sliding play during the no-hit portion of the multi act event.
